JAW SHIFT – JAW JOINT PROBLEMS
The jaw joints and jaw muscles, related diseases and treatment is one of the branches of dentistry. The jaw joint is at the junction of the upper and lower jaw. It is a complex structure consisting of jawbone and muscle. The jaw muscles are loosened and the synchronized movement of the moving parts of the jaw joint opens and closes the mouth, the person can speak, chew or stretch. Since the jaw muscles and the joints work together, they affect each other.
For example, stress-induced tooth grinding and poor posture weaken the muscles, causing the lower and upper jaws to converge. When the jaws close to each other, pressure occurs in the jaw joint and this pressure tears the lower teeth.
It affects the jaw joint disorders, part of the head and neck muscles, ligaments (hard connective tissue holding bones), teeth, cheek, lip and salivary glands. Complaints about the jaw joint are not only in the joint region, but also in the jaws, eyes, ears, nose and throat regions.
